Services
SpeakWrite offers a range of services to address diverse speech, language, and communication needs within mainstream and SEN settings and also for your family at home.
School consultations
The new SEND reforms place a stronger emphasis on early identification, inclusive practice, and accountability within mainstream schools. Schools are expected to ensure that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are supported effectively within the classroom through high-quality teaching, targeted interventions, and well-trained staff. This means developing a whole-school understanding of speech, language, and communication needs, alongside ongoing professional development to build staff confidence in identifying and supporting pupils with SEND. By investing in training and practical strategies, schools can create inclusive environments where every child is able to participate, learn, and communicate successfully.
SpeakWrite conduct whole-school or Trust-wide audits of Speech, Language, and Communication skills to assess existing knowledge and confidence amongst staff. This allows us to design and deliver bespoke training programmes that target specific areas for development and effectively upskill staff.

Non-diagnostic assessments
Non-diagnostic assessments and reports can help provide you with crucial insights into areas of concern such as articulation, phonological awareness, understanding, expressive language, attention, engagement, vocabulary development and social interaction.
You will be asked to complete a referral form initially, this will allow us to gain some insight into the types of assessments or observation require. We usually allocate between 35mins to an hour per child, dependent upon needs. Verbal feedback is always provided following
These assessments and reports will help guide effective evidence- based intervention that can be carried out in school by your staff. They will also serve as strong evidence to support referrals to diagnostic testing with external agencies.
Evidence-based targeted intervention and resources
Collaboration is central to providing truly inclusive support.=, that's why we work closely with staff, children and families to build strong, trusting relationships that support each child’s development.
We offer practical resources and guidance based on evidence-informed strategies that can be used both at home and in school. Interventions can be delivered directly by one of our team, or we can train staff so they feel confident implementing them within your setting.
We also spend time with parents during home visits, gathering valuable information and sharing strategies that can support your child’s progress in everyday routines.
In addition, personalised visual resources can be created and tailored to each child’s individual needs, helping to ensure consistent and effective support across both home and school environments.
Most of our intervention work is carried out in schools with groups or on a 1:1 basis, depending on needs. Staff are kept up to date with progress, next steps and resources to reinforce learning within daily teaching.
Interventions cover, but are not exclusive to; engagement and attention, articulation support, social communication groups, vocabulary groups, narrative groups and expressive and receptive language groups.
Why choose SpeakWrite?
With over 20 years of experience working directly in schools, SpeakWrite uniquely understands the realities of time and resource limitations. We empathise with staff, working alongside them to make the implementation of SEND reforms and inclusive practices genuinely achievable and effective.
Building communication-friendly environments
At SpeakWrite, our mission is to ensure all schools can offer a communication-friendly learning environment and we do this by helping to upskill staff with a wide range of speech, language, and communication strategies, adapting the learning environment and providing resources and information to assist in early recognition of SLC difficulties. We foster inclusive learning for neurodiverse, dyslexic, EAL, Developmental Language Disorder, and articulation difficulties, bridging the gap to specialist referral and ultimately reducing the need for intensive external support.
Who have we supported?
